Mobile Meals of
La Crosse delivers nutritious meals to residents of La Crosse, French Island and Onalaska. The program is open to anyone in need. Many who are served are elderly and/or of limited mobility. Meal deliveries are available every day of the year, including weekends and holidays.
Meals are priced to promote affordability. Donations allow us to keep prices as low as possible. We are grateful for all gifts and grants received!
​ Mobile Meals of La Crosse was organized in
1971 by three community-minded citizens, Geraldine Perry, Robert (Kootch) Carroll and Reverend Ronald McMenamin.
Gerry Perry had a parent struggling with issues related to dementia. Kootch Carroll’s county board district included an area of central La Crosse with a large elderly population. Rev. McMenamin saw that members of his northside church were prematurely entering nursing homes only because they lacked meal access. Their brainstorming resulted in the formation of Mobile Meals of La Crosse, Inc.
While their concerns originally centered around the needs of the elderly, the program has no limitations as to the age, health, or socioeconomic status of those who are served.
Those who benefit most directly from Mobile Meals are individuals who would otherwise have difficulty accessing meals on their own. Here is a common scenario:

John L., age 75, a lifelong La Crosse resident, was eventually able to return home after suffering a heart attack. His health challenges included diabetes, a source of severe pain in his legs and his back. After a stay in a local rehabilitation center, John’s recovery progressed to the point that he could return to his home, but with significant restrictions. Although cooking had once been one of his talents, he now found it difficult to stand long enough to prepare his own meals. At that point John reached out to Mobile Meals. He shared that “Mobile Meals has made a difference in my life! I greatly appreciate the meals and enjoy seeing the volunteers.”
